Week 17: November 12, 2024 Transferências de Novo!!

Week 17: November 12, 2024 Transferências de Novo!!

Oii tudo bem?? Not gonna lie, I can't believe another week has gone by! Sometimes the days feel long, but the weeks are definitely getting faster!!

Yesterday we found out transfer news, and I'm staying here in Montese again! Sister Barbosa is leaving the area to become a sister training leader, but my new companion will be Sister Mayor from Chile!! Transfers also means that I am now out of training and am just a regular missionary,  which is low key a little scary but also really exciting!!

This past week went by fast, but we put Francisco on date for baptism! He is 89 years old and lives super close to the church but never met with the missionaries before and we happened to knock on his door!!

We also were able to visit an inactive family that wants to be sealed in the temple and they have two daughters in primar that are so cute! Só I'm excited to be able to keep working with them!

It's rained a couple times in the mornings while I'm still in the house, but for the most part it's been super hot and sunny which has made it feel a little weird to see Christmas light and trees in places,  but I love to see the Christmas spirit!!

That's about it for the week, nothing super crazy, but for my spiritual thought, I want to share a quote from Elder Uchtdorf that says "God does not need people who are flawless. He seeks those who will offer their ‘heart and a willing mind’ [Doctrine and Covenants 64:34], and He will make them ‘perfect in Christ’ [Moroni 10:32–33].” This quote really stuck out to me because it is really easy to think that we need to be, look, talk, act, etc. in a certain way that we have made up in our heads that would be the perfect type of person as a friend or as a missionary or as a parent or anybody! But the reality is, this is not what God asks of us. He asks us to come to Him as we are and let Him mold us into the people He needs us to be, not who we think we should be. For me, this is super comforting because it takes off a bit of the pressure!! Yes we need to work and do our part, but God just asks that we come to Him willing to change and with an open heart!! He loves us so much and just wants to help us and this change is all possible through our Savior Jesus Christ!! Through Him, each of us can become the person God wants us to become!!

I love all of you so much and I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love you so much too! I pray and think about you all often!!

Com amor,
Sister Howard
