Week 13: October 14, 2024 - Milagres!🌊

 Milagres!🌊

Hi everyone! Here's my update for the week!!

We had zone meeting/training and breakfast which is always good to be with the other missionaries and learn!

This week we suffered a little bit of food poisoning from pur own food that was olive oil that expired last year, so that was fun.

One day we got water in a coconut and the mom of the guy selling it was basically like you guys should come back another day to teach my son... so maybe a miracle will come from our little coconut water stop!

We started teaching Reubens this week and he came to church yesterday,  so please pray that he will progress!

Saturday was a holiday here so basically we did a lottt of walking and not really much talking to people haha.

Rayssa was baptized yesterday!! She is so awesome!! Her mom came and cried just told us thank you for helping her to get baptized, and her mom was a little against it being so fast at first, so that was a miracle and super cool to see!

Also, I've been a missionary for 3 months which is so crazy because it feels like it's still August! But the time really does pass pretty quickly so I am trying to cherish every second now, even if sometime I just really miss America haha but I also love Brasil!!

Spiritual thought: A verse that I have come across a lot recently in the Book of Mormon is the last verse of the very first chapter which says, "But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance." This describes what we will read about in the rest of the Book of Mormon, but it also describes our lives! We are chosen when we choose to have faith in the Lord and we truly can see His tender mercies every day of our lives when we have this faith and are looking! I invite you all to look for the tender mercies in your life! I know they are there! I love you all! Never hesitate to reach out!!

Com muito amor,
Sister Howard

Week 12: October 7, 2024 Conferência Geral!🤍

Week 12: October 7, 2024 Conferência Geral!🤍

Bom diaaa everyone! Shoutout to Carson who turned 17 on Thursday 🥳This week was a pretty solid week! First and most important was general conference Saturday and Sunday! I love conference so much because it is always so spiritually uplifting to hear from the prophet and apostle and other inspired leaders so I'm feeling really good after that! Send me your favorite quote or talk!!

One thing about conference is we are always encouraged to come with a question and this time I wrote down my questions and when you are really looking for the answers, God delivers through the words of His servants!

Also this week we met with Rayssa and invited her to be baptized! I think she will either be baptized this week or next week, but we are super excited for her!

Another person we had on date to be baptized unfortunately decided that she wants to return to her religion of Catholicism which is a bummer but we are glad we could at least help her start going to church again.

I met my companion Sister Barbosa on Wednesday and she is a lot of fun and I am learning a lot from her so that has been good! We have been able to see the Lord's work start to move along here in Montese these past few days so I'm excited to see what we can do in this transfer!

Spiritual thought:
I of course loved every general conference talk, especially those about missionary work and talking about missionaries because it just kind of hits different when you're out here! But one of my favorite quotes was from Elder Uchtdorf about faith. He said "Faith is not faith if never tested. Faith is not strong if never opposed." Faith might be the thing we teach the most as missionaries because it is the first step in the doctrine of Christ and when we teach I like to share the same scripture Elder Uchtdorf shared after this quote from Alma 32:21 about how faith is not a perfect knowledge, but is hope in things we know but can't see. This was just such a powerful reminder for me. Our faith has to be tested in order to grow and sometimes all we can do in those moments is have hope for the future and trust that our faith will be made stronger! I know and have seen this to be true in my life! I know that God loves and cares about each one of us! I love you all! Sorry my emails are all over the place but hopefully they make sense🤪 Até a próxima semana!!

Tchau tchau,
Sister Howard
